Matching 24 of Scotland’s large and small suppliers of event services with the same number of event planners from the UK, France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, “Meet in Scotland” will feature nearly 500 “speed appointments” in one day.
From the Kingsmill Hotel in Inverness, Cameron House on Loch Lomond and Winton House, East Lothian to the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre, the pride of Scotland’s event venues and suppliers will have the opportunity to highlight their unique hospitality services to some of the top European agencies who are responsible for buying and organising meetings, conferences and incentive travel throughout the world.
Amanda Ferguson, Senior Marketing Manager, UK & Europe, from VisitScotland’s Business Events team said: “Europe is an incredibly important market for Scotland’s conference, meetings and events business. Bringing together suppliers and buyers of business events services in the wonderful surroundings of St Andrews is a great opportunity both to gain access to millions of pounds worth of potential business for Scotland but also to showcase our worldwide reputation for hospitality. With competition for hosting business events increasingly intense, it’s vital we keep Scotland front of mind as the destination of choice for our key markets in the UK, Europe and beyond”.
“Meet in Scotland” will take place at Fairmont St Andrews and the Kingsbarns Distillery, St Andrews.
Jane McGee, Director of Sales & Marketing at Fairmont St Andrews said: “We’re delighted to host this year’s Meet in Scotland at Fairmont St Andrews. It’s an ideal time for buyers to experience both our newly-refurbished world-class facilities, the and also spend time in The Home of Golf during the Alfred Dunhill Links Golf Championships, which are also taking place here this week. We hope our guests will enjoy some great business meetings but also create some fond memories of their time in St Andrews and beyond.”
Douglas Clement, Founder and Visitor Centre Manager, Kingsbarns Distillery and Visitor Centre, said: “We are delighted to be in the unique position of welcoming all the attendees at ‘Meet in Scotland’ to our Distillery for one of the key events within the programme. I'm sure that our accessibility to the famous Fife golf courses and St Andrews area will excite event organisers with the great possibilities to combine tours of one of Scotland's newest whisky distilleries with bespoke events.”
Event planners will also have the opportunity to travel further afield in Scotland thanks to several familiarisation trips around the country. The trips will take in some of Scotland’s other key event destinations including Stirling, Glasgow, Dundee, Aberdeen and Edinburgh.
