Over £50 million in economic impact forecast for 2016The Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) is on track for record numbers of events and delegates in 2016, translating to approximately £51.5 million of economic impact being generated for the city against £45.8 million in 2015.
Buoyed by increased numbers of international association conferences during the year, a greater diversity of events and the busiest Festival period ever recorded for the venue – with the EICC doubling as ‘Venue 150’ during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe - delegate numbers are expected to reach over 90,000 for the full year (2015: 71,000) and over 180 events (2015: 134).
Meanwhile, Marion McKean joined the EICC as Operations Director at the beginning of August, reporting in to Chief Executive, Marshall Dallas and adding to a senior team that has been strengthened by a number of appointments since Dallas took over the reins at the EICC in September 2014.
Marshall Dallas said: “We’re on course for another really strong year and I couldn’t be happier with the focus of the team and its ability to keep delivering amazing results. Underscoring the numbers is the positive feedback we receive from UK and international clients indicating that we are rapidly moving up the order when it comes to the most highly-rated conference venues across the world. That is great news for the city of Edinburgh and great news for the local economy.”
