Edinburgh becomes Scotland's first city to join European Cities Marketing Association

Marketing Edinburgh, the official promotions agency for the city of Edinburgh, has taken its place among the most progressive destinations in Europe, having been invited to join the prestigious European Cities Marketing Association (ECM).

Edinburgh is the first Scottish city and only the second in the UK after Belfast, to become a member of ECM. The organisation encourages collaboration, networking and information exchange between its member cities’ marketing professionals, improving competitiveness and in turn, creating a stronger pan-European offering of world class city destinations.   

Edinburgh was announced as the latest member to ECM at the organisation’s 2016 annual Spring Meeting in Madrid (24-27 February). Formed in 1991, there are currently over 100 cities in membership across 36 countries, including Paris, Reykjavik, Lisbon, Budapest, Athens, Munich and Turin.   

ECM’s unique selling proposition is that it is the only organisation to work with both the leisure and meetings industry, creates a unique 360 degree approach to enable members to strengthen their destination marketing offering.    

John Donnelly, Chief Executive of Marketing Edinburgh said: “Joining ECM marks a gear change for Edinburgh’s proactive marketing strategy.
