New Food and Beverage Manager at The Real Mary King’s Close

Edinburgh visitor attraction, The Real Mary King’s Close announces a brand new café and appointment of Rod Nisbet as Food and Beverage Manager.
This appointment comes at a pivotal moment in the history of The Real Mary King’s Close as operator Continuum Attractions announced a £500,000 investment into the development of the award-winning visitor attraction. The investment is the largest to date and marks a new phase in the Close’s history that is set to significantly enhance visitor experience both above and below ground.

Nisbet joins the 45 strong team with 20 years of industry experience including a head chef position within a Michelin starred restaurant and operational contracts within JRBVI Group and Traditionally Twisted Events.  

The creation of the new internal café is set to enhance the current revenue stream and is estimated to boost revenue by up to 10%.  The role filled by Nisbet will bolster the development and promotion of the space which will seat 40 guests and provide a unique corporate event venue.  

“I’m eager to start my new role at The Real Mary King’s Close in April having previously worked with the team to cater for events including the Close’s 10th Anniversary Celebrations and Burns’ Night.” Rod Nisbet comments, “This will be an opportunity for the Close to make its culinary mark on the Royal Mile.”  

The Real Mary King’s Close is part of Continuum Attractions who offer a host of cultural visitor attraction experiences across the UK, from the hallowed cobbles of Coronation Street to Portsmouth’s iconic Spinnaker Tower.
