This is the first time this political Conference has been held in the Granite City since 2003. Over 400 party members are expected to attend over the three days.
This announcement follows on from last week’s news that AECC have been nominated by clients and visitors as the “Best Conference Venue in Scotland” in the Annual MICE Report Awards 2013, and demonstrates that AECC are continuing to attract a high volume and variety of business and events to the region.
Commenting, Willie Rennie, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Party said: "Scottish Liberal Democrats have a strong record of delivery in the North East and I am pleased that we will be returning to Aberdeen for our conference in 2014. Aberdeen is a city going from strength to strength, but whether we are talking about building a stronger Scottish economy or giving young people the support they need to get on in life many of the challenges facing the North East reflect circumstances in the rest of Scotland." He added, "Conference is a chance for Liberal Democrats to discuss some of the big issues facing Scotland today and I look forward to some robust debates at the AECC next year."
Brian Horsburgh, AECC’s Managing Director, commented: “We look forward to welcoming this political party conference to AECC in 2014, which closely follows the SPE SMN 6th European Sand Management Forum. This highlights the diversity of conferences coming to the region and the wider appeal of Aberdeen and AECC.”
