The Gourmet Ghillie Package will guarantee guests a tasty and indulgent experience whilst visiting one of the Highland’s most treasured gems – Fort Augustus. Treated to an overnight stay in one of the hotel’s Grand Master bedrooms with stunning views across Loch Ness, a luxury hamper will also await guests on arrival, filled with Scottish culinary delights including local and The Lovat’s specialty treats, such as Great Glen Game smoked venison, wild garlic pesto, and smoked salmon rillette accompanied by its freshly baked bread.

The day will start with trying your hand at one of the great outdoors’ most celebrated sports under the guiding hand of Fort Augustus’ very own personal Ghillie, Alex Sutherland. Enjoy a one-on-one fishing session at Hill Lochs on the south side of Loch Ness, where Alex will take you and your guest on an excursion to remember with an expert view on how to catch the very best of the area’s marine life.

Enjoy lunch al fresco with the delicious contents of your luxury hamper, with a wonderful indulgent combination of picnic ingredients. From champagne and sweet delicacies, to an amazing array of cheeses and selection of mouth watering antipasti and pesto, you can celebrate the finer things in life in spectacular surroundings.

Following another session with Alex after lunch, the late afternoon can be spent exploring the picturesque village of Fort Augustus, which not only boasts the beautiful backdrop of Loch Ness, but a wide range of attractions, shops, amenities and sights including the Caledonian Canal, cruises on Loch Ness, Ben Nevis and Urquhart Castle.

To finish the perfect day, dinner will be served in The Lovat’s two AA rosette restaurant. Under the guiding hand of Head Chef Sean Kelly, the five course menu offers a selection of experimental twists on traditional dishes that truly enhance the flavour of the finest Scottish produce available, such as hand-dived scallops to locally reared meat as well as chanterelles, wild fruit and herbs foraged by the team.

Located on the southern tip of Loch Ness, The Lovat is a landmark Victorian three-star hotel just a 45 minute drive from Inverness and Ben Nevis.

Boasting luxury accommodation and contemporary comfort, the multi-award winning hotel’s history stretches back to the 1860s and today it’s recognised for its eco-conscious approach whilst being led by a passionate and dedicated team.

Although the two AA rosette restaurant is open from Easter to October, the Brasserie is open year round serving a well-balanced, tasty à la carte menu that adapts to suit seasonally-changing local produce.
