The AEV is an organisation serving an established event venue community, focused on creating and driving platforms that service fundamental industry needs. AEV is run by its members for the benefit of its members through an elected council of representatives, specialist working groups and a full time secretariat.
One such group is the Communications Working Group, and this group of AEV marketers meet quarterly to discuss the challenges they face as a community, to share best practice and ideas and to foster closer working relationships between the Venues.
Victoria Withy, Head of Communications at AECC said: “As an active member of the AEV, we are delighted to welcome other members to Aberdeen to see what the AECC, and the North-East of Scotland offers in terms of events and conferences. The challenges we face as venue marketers are similar whether you are big or small, London or regional - and sharing ideas and industry knowledge is very useful.”
Andrew Harrison from AEV said: “Yesterdays meeting delved into the real details including discussion of the 2012 Digital Media Benchmarking Report examining e-marketing effectiveness, website use and the impact of social media on marketing. The potential of new digital networks is being discussed as well as the benefit, attraction and utilisation of venue listing as a marketing channel.”
Joining the meeting were Charlotte Johnson, Head of Marketing from Alexandra Palace, Tom Lambregts, Head of Marketing EC&O Venues, James Puxty, Head of Communications The NEC Group, Keith Clifford, Marketing and Digital Manager Exhibition Group and Gemma Parkhouse, Head of Marketing and Communications ExCeL London.
James Puxty, Vice Chair of the group added: “We would welcome other venues to join and contribute, as we are getting a real added benefit of our membership.”
