Unusual private dining rooms in Edinburgh

Having a location that is both fascinating and unique brings a small event to life, giving conversation topics, activities and a taste of something truly special. With a host of historic buildings and stunning architecture it is no wonder Edinburgh has some unusual private dining spaces.

The Collection, The Scotch Whisky Experience, Castlehill
Few people can claim to have dined in the midst of a World Record.  At The Scotch Whisky Experience, up to 10 people can dine within the atmospheric amber glow of the World’s Largest Collection of Scotch Whisky, which comprises 3,384 bottles of Scotland’s national drink.  The Collection is housed in a stunningly lit black marble and glass vault and since being launched in 2009, it has become one of Edinburgh’s most noted private dining spaces, hosting government heads and business leaders. The sumptuous Scottish-inspired food is courtesy of renowned executive chef David Neave and his team, with tailored menus. To celebrate the silver anniversary of The Scotch Whisky Experience, a tasting of an exclusive commemorative 25yr old blend is now included with dessert.

Our Dynamic Earth, Holyrood
Five star visitor attraction Our Dynamic Earth offers a large range of corporate spaces, each one designed to make your experience a memorable one.  While the spaces in Our Dynamic Earth are dramatic, with views across the Salisbury Crags, an unusual location for private dining in the attraction is the Rainforest, where animal calls create a wild backdrop and torrent of water showers the scene every ten minutes.  Our Dynamic Earth offers a venue that makes a truly unforgettable experience for conferences, gala dinners, receptions or general meetings.

Royal Scots Club, Abercromby Place
One of Edinburgh’s most historic venues, the Royal Scots Club is also home to modern business facilities.  While the venue is a luxury private club with accommodation, it is also perfect for private and secluded dining and is renowned within the city for its sense of seclusion.  The Douglas Room with views across the stunning Queen Street Gardens brings a unique rural feel to it – an escape from the city within one of Edinburgh’s finest buildings.  Guests can enjoy a superb private Beating the Retreat within the gardens to bring a spectacular conclusion to any event – one of the few places in Edinburgh where this is possible.

  Royal Yacht Britannia, Leith
The Royal Yacht Britannia has played host to kings, queens and heads of state and most recently hosted the pre-wedding party of Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall. This truly unique five star venue brings something totally special to a private dinner or event. Private dining options include the impressive State Dining Room or the more intimate Officers’ Ward Room, both of which are packed with history of the Royal Family’s holidays and the ship’s time abroad.  With the highest possible standard in catering and service, dining on Britannia is a truly special experience and one that visitors never forget, with food prepared in the original Galley.
