Macdonald Rusacks Hotel receives £650,000 investment

Macdonald Rusacks Hotel, one of the world’s most iconic golf hotels with its views over the 18th fairway of the Old Course in St. Andrews is to benefit from a £650,000 bedroom transformation.  Scheduled for completion by the end of March 2013, the investment will see 40 bedrooms, including four Junior and Senior Suites, transformed to complement the classical elegance, comfort and style of the hotel.

Kevin Keenan, General Manager at Macdonald Rusacks Hotel, commented: “2012 marked a really successful year for the hotel as we won the award for Best Large Hotel at the Scottish Golf Tourism Awards and achieved a third AA Rosette in our Rocca Bar & Grill restaurant.  This £650,000 investment represents another significant milestone for our iconic hotel.’

“As part of Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, we are very proud of our commitment to uphold the highest standards of product. This development will ensure the hotel continues to meet and exceed the needs of our guests, particularly those golfers from around the world that we host year after year.”

Interior designer, Corrinne Muir at Guardian Soft Furnishings in Stirling offered an insight to the inspiration for styling the bedrooms, “The rooms are designed to be opulent and luxurious, with warm colour palettes in reds and burgundies, and purples and heathers. There’s just a touch of tartan to complement the scheme and celebrate the hotel’s richness of Scottish history.

“We’ve also used leather sofas, mahogany furniture, Moon Fabrics’ woollen throws and cushions, brass light fittings and Porcelanosa tiles in the bathrooms to ensure the interiors offer the luxury and comfort expected by the hotel’s guests.”

With every room exuding its own character and being named either after golfing greats or stories linked to St. Andrews, on completion, guests may choose to stay within the Young Tom Morris Junior Suite or Old Tom Morris Senior Suite. Both offer dramatic views over the Old Course and to the sweep of West Sands beach and the North Sea beyond.

The hotel has hosted many famous faces from the world of golf and cinema, including golfing great Arnold Palmer and the late Hollywood star, Bing Crosby.
