Eurostar’s catering receives sustainability star rating

Eurostar has announced that it has become the first transport provider to receive Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) accreditation as a One-Star Sustainability Champion.
The high-speed rail operator was recently granted the One-Star Sustainability Champion* status for its commitment to sourcing local and sustainably produced ingredients for its on-board catering, and for pursuing a socially and environmentally responsible approach.

Eurostar reports an encouraging start to 2013

Eurostar, the high speed rail service between the UK and mainland Europe today reported an encouraging start to the year with growth in sales revenues during the first three months of the year.  Compared to the same period in 2012, sales revenues grew by 1% to £213 million (£211 million Q1 2012), while passenger numbers remained stable year-on-year at 2.23 million (2.24 million Q1 2012).

Plain paper ticketing opens up for corporate rail travellers

Evolvi Rail Systems and Chiltern Railways have jointly unveiled the UK’s first plain paper train ticketing system available exclusively to corporate travellers.
The partnership means that business users will be able to book Chiltern’s ‘business zone’ premium economy service via travel management companies (TMC) using the EvolviNG online platform and then print an RSP (Rail Settlement Plan) accredited plain paper ticket. It is a convenient extension to the current range of Evolvi fulfilment options, such as kiosk ticket printing and the national TOD (ticket-on-departure) system.

Eurostar delivers a strong performance in 2012

Eurostar, the high-speed passenger rail service between the UK and mainland Europe, today reported a strong performance in 2012 marked by rising passenger numbers and good growth in profitability.
Despite the difficult economic backdrop, passenger numbers for the year ended 31 December 2012 rose 2% from 9.7 million to 9.9 million. Whilst business travel remained flat, the uplift in passengers was underpinned by continuing resilience in the leisure travel market as the number of leisure passengers grew by 3% compared to the previous year.
