Stansted Express savings attract more passengers

The region’s train operator, Abellio Greater Anglia, has announced that more passengers than ever used its Stansted Express service in 2015.
Passenger numbers were up 20% on 2014, to 4.7 million in 2015 - with the train operator’s range of low cost fares and fast, frequent services cited as the reasons that people choose to travel to Stansted Airport by rail.


The increase in passenger numbers reflects not only more people travelling through Stansted Airport, but also an increase in market share as people choose Stansted Express over other forms of transport.

To complement the fast, frequent service, a range of good value ticket products are available which are ideal for family or friends travelling together, including ‘Duo’, ‘Groupsave’ offers and children under 5 travelling free.

Stansted Express is the fastest and most comfortable way to get between Central London and the Airport. Journey time to/from Liverpool Street is just 47 minutes or 36 minutes from Tottenham Hale and the train station at the airport is directly under the airport terminal, just 2 minutes from Check-in.

With trains every 15 minutes between London Liverpool Street and Stansted Airport, the Stansted Express not only offers customers a frequent service, but also travel on one of the most modern train fleets in the country, which include free Wi-fi, free charge points and an at seat trolley service of drinks and snacks.

Recent improvements to the service have included:
• the installation of the UK’s first ‘video ticket office’,  NextAgent™, which can link customers to a Abellio Greater Anglia ticketing expert via a live video link while they are purchasing tickets from the machine;
• the installation of a new, dedicated Customer Service Desk at London Liverpool Street station which includes four ticket machines, a flight information display screen providing departure information for flights leaving in the next 2-3 hours, and a train departure information screen, showing next train and platform information and service updates staffed by customer service assistants who help passengers with ticket purchasing, general enquiries, flight and rail information and directions to the correct platforms for trains to Stansted Airport.
