A Dutchman, Remco Gerritsen, has already been announced as the General Manager for the Maritim Hotel Amsterdam that will be opening in 2018. Aged 47, Remco joined Maritim Hotelgesellschaft at the beginning of April and so is available to be engaged in the entire opening phase running up to the launch of the group’s largest property, which will have 579 rooms and suites.
He was previously the Associate Vice President of IHG Hotels. His CV also includes Chief Executive Officer of AZIMUT Hotels and Regional General Manager Germany & Eastern Europe of Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts. He is married and has one child.
Dr. Monika Gommolla, Chairperson of the supervisory board and owner of Maritim Hotelgesellschaft, states that ‘with Remco Gerritsen, we have gained an extremely experienced manager of international stature. Remco will be active in various posts within the Maritim hotel group before moving to the opening office in Amsterdam and is currently working at the Maritim Hotel Duesseldorf.
The Maritim Hotel Amsterdam will be the largest Maritim hotel so far. With a meeting capacity of up to 4,750 people, it will be the largest conference hotel in the Netherlands. The Maritim Hotelgesellschaft signed the lease agreement for the new first class hotel in Amsterdam's best city location in 2014. With 34 floors, this 4-star hotel will also be the highest in the city. The modern tower will stand directly opposite the main railway station and guests will enjoy magnificent views of the old town and the city's famous harbour.
