With over 18 years of experience working in some of London’s most prestigious hotels, Ashley Harman is one of the Capital’s most experienced and sought-after concierges.
InterContinental London Westminster guests can look forward to Ashley’s exceptional London know-how - from the most sought after dining and drinking trends to London’s hottest tickets and attractions, they will be privy to the most dedicated and tailored concierge service.
In preparation for the much-anticipated hotel launch at the end of 2012, Ashley will be responsible for selecting the 17-strong team, developing a creative ‘In the Know’ concierge programme that celebrates the nuances of Britain’s political heartland, Westminster. InterContinental’s world-renowned ‘In the Know’ programmes go the extra mile to provide guests with unique, local insider experiences to enrich their stay.
Ashley joins InterContinental London Westminster from one of London’s most distinguished and historic 5* hotels, Brown’s. There he held the role of Deputy Head Concierge, providing guests with impeccable and highly renowned service. Ashley first made his mark at InterContinental Hotels when he spent seven years as Concierge at InterContinental London Park Lane.
This is a welcome return to Westminster for Ashley, marking almost 20 years since he studied at Westminster College London, where he received a National Diploma in Hotel Management and Catering Institutional Operations. In 2009, his skills were recognised when he was awarded the prestigious title of Les Clefs d’or “Concierge of the Year”.
Ashley Harman says of his new position, “The Head Concierge role at InterContinental London Westminster was hugely appealing to me, not least because the hotel is based in an area steeped in wonderful British heritage but also because it’s a new, blank canvas - it’s an exciting vision to be part of. Nearly every hotel in the Greater London area will feature Westminster’s icons as a reason to visit, but we are genuinely located amongst them, be it the Palace of Westminster and Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace, the Royal Parks and the River Thames. My team and I will be alive to the buzz of Westminster Village”.
Andrew Coney, InterContinental London Westminster General Manager, says of Ashley’s appointment, “We’re absolutely thrilled to have Ashley on board - he brings tremendous knowledge, experience and passion to the role. As part of his political preparation for opening, Ashley will visit our sister hotel, the Willard InterContinental in Washington DC. It’s been a part of the US political landscape for almost 200 years and is a fantastic representation of how a hotel can bring some glamour to the world of politics – truly an inspiration for us opening InterContinental London Westminster”.
