Diversity Travel expands senior team with new head of account management

Chris Hellawell
Manchester-based specialist travel management company, Diversity Travel, has appointed a new head of account management to lead and develop account teams across the growing company.
Chris Hellawell joins Diversity Travel with more than seven years’ experience in the travel industry. In his last role at Egencia, he was promoted to global account manager in just two years.

At Diversity Travel, Chris will be responsible for engaging and developing the company’s industry-recognised account teams. This will include overseeing Diversity Travel’s expanding portfolio of more than 2,000 clients to ensure they continue to receive a quality, personalised service.

Christopher Airey, managing director of Diversity Travel said: “Rising quickly through the ranks, Chris has consistently delivered a very high standard of customer care throughout his career and his appointment to our senior team further demonstrates our on-going commitment to this.

“Due to the nature of their work, our clients in the academic, charity and not-for-profit sectors often have very complex travel requirements. Chris will ensure the account management team works collaboratively with these clients to identify further cost savings and improve travel processes.”

Chris Hellawell said of his appointment: “It is great to join Diversity Travel during a time of rapid growth. Having worked with the account teams for a short time already, I have seen our staff truly act as an extension of their clients’ teams.

“Using my experience of overcoming challenges to date, I will be developing and implementing processes for customer-facing teams to help them build even stronger bonds with their clients as we continue to grow.”

Diversity Travel has announced an increase in sales of over 60 per cent over the past three years, with a £9m increase in turnover in the past 12 months alone. The company serves clients that include the Salvation Army, University of Warwick, Wellcome Trust, Save the Children International and the London School of Economics.

With offices in London, Manchester and Melbourne, the company, which celebrates its 10 year anniversary next year, has seen revenue increase from £34.6million in 2013 to £56.6million at the end of 2015.
