Travel Counsellors take digital strategy to next level with new appointment

Waseem Haq
Travel Counsellors have announced the appointment of a Director of Digital and Innovation as the company continues to focus on building its digital offering and innovations across the business.
The new role has been taken on by Waseem Haq, who joins Travel Counsellors with over 20 years’ experience in the technology arena, most recently as Digital Strategy Director for multinational consumer goods company PZ Cussons. He will now work across the digital and marketing teams at Travel Counsellors’ headquarters in Manchester to develop the company’s digital strategy and the support it gives Business Travel Counsellor franchisees globally.

Travel Counsellors CEO Steve Byrne comments; “Digital is one of the key strategic pillars of our business and this is a new and exciting role for someone who lives and breathes digital and believes passionately in the importance of culture and people in driving commercial success. We are confident Waseem fits this bill with his vast experience in this field and the fact he naturally shares and relates to the company’s values and business model of caring, people, service and relationships. He will now lead and drive our digital strategy and spearhead the evolution of the business to be fully digitally enabled.”

Waseem’s role will oversee responsibility for evolving global content and web strategy; enhancing the use of data, insight and digital channels; and being a focal point for driving innovation and idea generation across the business. He will also be focusing on enhancing the customer relationship management tools for the company’s corporate travel specialists so they can deliver an even more targeted and personalised marketing experience to business travellers.

This latest announcement comes as the business continues to make a number of ongoing investments in digital developments, including the recent launch of its own customer app, newly designed corporate website, the recruitment of a data insight team and the personalisation of in-house quote and booking system Phenix, using customer data in line with future industry trends.

Byrne adds; “We are in a really good place but no matter how successful you are as a business, it’s important you never stand still. The way in which we communicate with customers is always changing, so we’re ensuring we evolve with this by enhancing our digital presence and the personalised service our Business Travel Counsellors deliver to their clients. Waseem’s role will play a major part in driving this evolution.”
