Christopher Wayne-Wills, former Chief Executive Officer at Macdonald Hotels’ Aviemore Resort in Scotland, has joined QHotels’ Slaley Hall in Northumberland as General Manager, following over 21 years in the hospitality industry.
Christopher will be focusing on highlighting the Edwardian mansion’s top-class golf facilities, after recently being named the best golf resort in the North of England at the 2016 Golfer Travel Awards.
The hotel has two 18-hole championship courses and a team of seven PGA-qualified professionals. Christopher will be at the helm of the hotel’s leisure and corporate offering, with 141 bedrooms and 12 purpose-built meeting and conference rooms hosting up to 350 delegates.
Darren Townsend also joins the group as General Manager of Cambridge Belfry after holding roles as General Manager at City Inn and Venue Director at De Vere Venues.
Darren will be promoting the hotel’s conference and banqueting offer, which includes eight meetings and conference venues accommodating up to 250 delegates.
Darren said of his appointment: “I’m thrilled to join the team at Cambridge Belfry. The hotel has a versatile offering and I’m looking forward to strengthening its corporate profile, as well as continuing to enhance the already fantastic leisure experience.”
Christopher added: “After 21 years in the hospitality industry, it’s rare to come across a career opportunity as exciting as QHotels, which truly understands its customers and continues to respond to their behaviour and needs. I’ll be focusing on promoting Slaley Hall as a destination for golf breaks, to really make the most of its award-winning offer for golfers.”
Michael Purtill, Managing Director of QHotels, added: “Christopher and Darren are both high flyers in the hotel industry and, as well as experience and expertise, they also share the passion and intuition we look for. I know that these talented GMs will make a great addition to our team.”
