Walker brings significant international experience from the world of finance having worked in the UK, North America and Asia.
George Walker said: “It’s an exciting time to be joining Marshall Dallas and the rest of the team at the EICC, a world-class conference venue that is integral to the local economy while being a great advert for not only for the city of Edinburgh but Scotland itself. I look forward to bringing my own experience to the board and advising on strategy as the organisation goes from strength to strength.”
Marshall Dallas, the EICC’s Chief Executive, said: “We’re extremely pleased to secure George’s services. His industry experience will be invaluable as we plot the next phase of growth at the EICC and, over the next few months, we expect to announce further appointments with a view to bolstering the board for the years ahead.”
The EICC celebrated its 20th anniversary on Thursday 17th September, with latest figures showing a £500 million contribution to the economy since the venue opened in 1995. Under the stewardship of CEO Marshall Dallas, the business has reported its strongest year of trading on record in 2015 and is forecasting revenue uplift for each of the next 3 years.
Buoyed by a combination of repeat business and new client wins at a national and an international level, the EICC continues to reap the benefits of the 2013 expansion, which includes the much heralded Lennox Suite. The EICC is situated in the heart of Edinburgh, which is now rated as the top UK conference destination outside London.
