Travel technology expert to drive growth for SabreSabre Corporation has appointed Eric Hallerberg as Country Director for the UK and Ireland.
Hallerberg will lead Sabre’s travel marketplace business in the UK and Ireland, which is the largest for Sabre in the region. He is tasked with growing the company’s customer base, and maintaining successful and trusted relationships with Sabre’s existing travel management company clients, technology partners, as well as leisure and generalist travel agencies in the UK and Ireland.
A travel technology veteran, Hallerberg brings more than 11 years of GDS experience to the role. Originally based at Sabre’s Southlake U.S headquarters in 2004, Hallerberg has since held a number of regional leadership positions within the company. He was most recently Regional Managing Director of Global Accounts Europe, Middle East and Africa; a UK-based role where he helped grow Sabre’s global account customer base by showing the benefits of working with Sabre’s innovative technology. Prior to that, he spent six years in Singapore working alongside Abacus, Asia’s leading GDS which Sabre is set to acquire, to drive travel agency growth across the Asia-Pacific region.
“Eric brings deep industry knowledge and a unique combination of global, regional and local UK experience that is well suited to this role,” said Stephane Aita, vice president, Western Europe, Sabre Travel Network. “He has a keen eye for helping customers spot growth opportunities and achieving success through the use of the latest technology. Our customers in the UK and Ireland are among the most sophisticated and tech-savvy, and Eric’s appointment combined with our significant product and technology investments, highlight our desire to grow with our customers in this market, and accelerate our already strong presence in these countries.”
Before joining Sabre, Hallerberg earned a PhD in Economics from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He also earned dual degrees – a BA in History and a BBA in Finance – from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, spending part of his studies at University College, Oxford.
Hallerberg replaces Elisabeth Martins, who was previously Country Director for the UK and Ireland. She assumes a new role as Director, Business Development for Online, Land and Sea, responsible for driving Sabre’s online sales across the European region.
“Eric and Elisabeth bring significant experience to these roles and I’m confident their appointments will help drive our ability to grow and serve the needs of our customers in this important region,” said Aita.
