Steve Smith joins the growing team to help develop opportunities in the sports and youth event sectors. Steve previously worked for Poken between 2009 and 2013 as Head of Product Management and Marketing before leaving to work on sports-related app development projects.
Other past roles have included management positions for technology startups Coghead, FileMaker/Apple and NetObjects. He has a long track record in entrepreneurship with broad experience in creating and managing all phases of the sales and marketing life cycle.
Steve will be looking to build on the high levels of engagement Poken has created for customers at the Youth Olympic Games, Boy Scouts of America, and other related sports and youth events. He says: “It’s personally exciting for me to rejoin Poken after a few years away while working on a sports application startup.
“Poken has grown from a pure social networking product into a full-fledged engagement and gamification platform for events. The sports and youth event space is diverse and growing rapidly. Poken can play a huge role in increasing social engagement, but we can also use game mechanics to reward specific types of interactions. Thus measurably improving events for both attendees and organisers.”
Poken’s CEO and Founder, Stephane Doutriaux, adds: “We are delighted to welcome Steve back to the Poken team. He is a very talented and experienced product manager, marketer, and business developer, and it's an honour to have him back.”
