Marriott International announces three new hires for East and Central Europe Development Teams

Marriott International has welcomed three new recruits to its development teams in Russia, Poland and Turkey. Ivan Kissev and Janusz Mitulski will be responsible for managing Marriott International’s development strategy in their respective regions and focusing on opportunities for its select service and luxury lifestyle brands including AC Hotels by Marriott, Courtyard, Residence Inn and Moxy Hotels while Pogda Demircan will be in charge of developing all Marriott brands in Turkey.

Ivan Kissev, Director, International Hotel Development, Russia and CIS
Ivan joins the Marriott Development Team from JLL where he was Vice President, Hotels & Hospitality for two years and a consultant for eight years. Prior to that Ivan worked for several consulting companies including Cushman & Wakefield, DTZ and Horwath HTL. During his tenure, he was responsible for the successful management of over 100 development projects across Russia and CIS.

Janusz Mitulski, Director, International Hotel Development, Central & Eastern Europe and Baltic Countries
Janusz joins the Marriott Development Team from Horwath HTL, where he was a Partner and Head of Hotel and Tourism Consulting Services for Poland for over 5 years. As a business consultant Janusz was engaged in almost 200 projects in Poland and other CEE countries. His clients included Polish and international leading hotel chains, independent hotel operators and other market leaders in development, banking and investment. Prior to consulting with Horwath HTL, Janusz spent seven years at Polish hotel chain Qubus Hotel, holding various positions within the company including General Manager.

Pogda Demircan, Vice President, International Hotel Development, Turkey
Pogda joins the Marriott Development Team from Hilton Worldwide, where he was Development Director for Turkey for almost 7 years. Pogda was instrumental in the substantial development of Hilton Worldwide’s brands in Turkey. Preceding his career in hotel development, he worked as a corporate financier at Nurol Holding and a business developer at IC Holding, two major Turkish conglomerates.

Ivica Cacic, Regional Vice President for Eastern Europe and the CIS at Marriott International says: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome Ivan, Janusz and Pogda to Marriott. They bring a wealth of development expertise and a strong understanding of their markets among them and will be well placed to facilitate Marriott International’s aggressive growth plans.”  

Eastern Europe is a key focus market for Marriott International with almost 40% of its growth planned for this market over the next two years.  Currently, nearly 3,500 rooms are expected to open by 2016 with further pipeline opportunities soon to be announced.
