Tuathal Breheny joins Macdonald Crutherland House with responsibility for overseeing operations and management across the hotel.
Originally from Ireland and with a wealth of knowledge, Tuathal brings with him over 20 years of industry experience, having worked with a host of four and five star hotels across the UK. Tuathal joins Macdonald Hotels & Resorts from his previous role at Menzies Hotels in Glasgow and Irvine, where he won the Scottish Hotel Awards Rising Star gong for his achievements as general manager.
Tuathal commented: “Joining Macdonald Crutherland House at a time when the hotel is really driving forward is a truly exciting prospect. It’s key that we continue to develop the hotel as a centre of excellence in the group, and focus on outstanding core standards.”
Bolstering the team further, new appointment Kevin McGillivray will take responsibility for the hotel’s food and drink, a key area of focus for the hotel. As president of the Federation of Chefs Scotland with over 25 years’ experience in catering and hospitality, Kevin’s previous roles include executive chef at Ballathie House Hotel, Perthshire, and director of VisitScotland's, Eat Scotland scheme.
A former Scottish Chef of the Year and Scottish Hotel Chef of the Year, award winner Kevin has excelled in many international competitions including the Culinary World Cup where he led the Scottish team to double gold. Commenting on his appointment, Kevin said: “My approach to cuisine is firmly focused on working with superb fresh produce with provenance and seasonality at the forefront. That really reflects the group-wide ethos of Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, so there is a great opportunity here to really maximize the potential of Macdonald Crutherland House.
Tuathal added: “Macdonald Crutherland House is a leading hotel in a fantastic location. We now have all the tools in place to really put the hotel on the map and develop its personality. I look forward to sharing my experience with the wider team, working closely with Kevin on our dining, particularly for the conference and wedding market and forging a strong relationship across the group to ensure we continue to flourish.”
