Simon joins Mondrian London from the Savoy where he has spent the last five years as Director of Sales, overseeing the hotel’s multi-million pound refurbishment. Mondrian London, situated in Sea Containers House on London’s South Bank, will open in early 2014 as the first hotel project from celebrated designer, Tom Dixon.
Since studying Hotel Business Management at the University of Surrey, Simon’s hotel experience has been focused on the UK and East Coast US, from Director of Corporate & Travel Industry Sales at The St Regis, New York before The Savoy. Born and raised in London, Simon began his career in Florida and then moved to New York for seven years gaining experience at renowned properties including The Drake. Simon’s initial short-term goal for Mondrian London is to develop a sound opening strategy, start the sales process, and identify the opening team. The long term goal is to deliver a successful launch from both a financial and service perspective.
“Morgans Hotel Group was the brand that invented the 'boutique' contemporary hotel and I have always admired the brand from the first properties in NY and Miami that I visited when I first started working in the hospitality industry. I have a passion for contemporary design but have mostly worked with traditional brands, I am excited to join a company that has one of the most coherent portfolios in the industry, so many brands nowadays just add properties to expand but Morgans has kept true to what they are.”
