Macdonald Burlington Hotel embraces Olympic and Paralympic spirit

Hosted by general manager Derek McDonagh and sales manager Amy Dixon within the Victorian splendour of the 500 capacity Horton Suite, the ‘Olympic’ events (organised by Eventurous) included a time trial on a bicycle road race simulator and a penalty shoot-out with giant inflatable footballs. Winner and runner-up prizes included overnight stays at a selection of Macdonald Hotels & Resorts throughout the country.
Guest of honour was Dave Heeley, the first blind person in the world to complete 7 marathons in 7 days on 7 continents. During the evening, 54 year-old Heeley who participated in the Olympic torch relay, announced to guests that he will have a role at the Paralympic Opening Ceremony on 29 August.
And with attendees also including representatives of The Premier Group, manufacturers of the official London 2012 Olympic torches, every guest was thrilled to have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be photographed holding one of the official Olympic torches.
As one of a number of UK-wide Macdonald Hotels to offer guests mouth-watering tastes from a Scottish Steak Club menu, throughout the evening guests also enjoyed servings of the highest quality cuts of beef and lamb, sourced from accredited Scottish farms. Fish was supplied and cured by the award winning John Ross Junior in Aberdeen, reflecting Macdonald Hotels & Resorts group-wide promise to serve only the finest freshest cuisine, always prepared from whole raw ingredients.
