40th Birthday Showcase at Hilton Birmingham Metropole reaches record numbers

More than 420 event organisers and delegates gathered together for a 40th birthday showcase evening, which was hosted by Hilton Birmingham Metropole and its live communications partner, mclcreate – a record number for the annual event.

The showcase, which took place on Wednesday, 31 August 2016 at Hilton
Birmingham Metropole was a celebration of the hotel‟s 40th birthday, diverting from previous years and focusing on a party atmosphere while still drawing attention to the new features and offerings from the hotel and its partners.

Those who attended the event experienced an evening throwback to the 1970‟s to begin with, including tequila sunrises at pre-dinner drinks as well as retro arcade machines available to play on. New features such as the „self pouring bar‟ and facial recognition software were also available for delegates to try out as a potential option for events, both innovative and game changing in their own right.

A time tunnel entrance was used for access to the main dinner event, including videos of classic moments from the decades over the last 40 years leading into the modern room set up. The hotel utilised Tellthechef before the event, which gave delegates the option to pre select their dinner choices online, a tool which has proved both beneficial to the hotel in terms of cost saving as well as improving guest experience as well.

Entertainment on the night consisted of quizzes on the tables using iPad‟s and a projected leader board, guest speeches from hotel General Manager Patrick Stapleton and mclcreate Sales Director Simon Jelley, and a phenomenal set from global performers, ABBA Revival, preceded by the hotel‟s 40th birthday cake cutting.

The event market is incredibly important for us, therefore, we need to ensure we continue to develop and remain innovative. Our partners and clients have helped us do this and it was amazing to welcome record numbers to our showcase event this year and show that we are still leading the way”

Stapleton concluded “We wanted to give everyone an evening to remember where we present what we can do as well as showing everyone we know how to celebrate an anniversary, I believe we achieved that”
