The White Barn Inn unveils and new look and guest experiences

The White Barn Inn
The White Barn Inn the iconic Kennebunkport, Maine boutique hotel, reveals an amplified guest experience this Autumn featuring revitalized guest rooms, recently added outdoor space, and casual luxury dining options. Guests are welcome to “savour the good life” through a variety of seasonal activities across the culinary and wellness spaces

These offerings instil the same storied White Barn Inn experience that guests have come to love over the years, paired with modern upgrades and a fresh approach.

“It’s been an exhilarating journey watching this quintessential property evolve into a sharper version of itself,” said Marco Novella, Chief Operating Officer, Grace Hotels. “The White Barn Inn remains true to its beloved identity and timeless charm while incorporating the elements necessary to meet the standards of the modern luxury traveller.”

As of Autumn 2016, The White Barn Inn will reveal a total of 11 completely refurbished rooms and suites, drawing inspiration from the property’s New England surroundings. The creative vision behind the new soul-felt design is led by Rod Pleasants of acclaimed interior design firm McIver Morgan. Pleasants is the original interior designer of The Mayflower Grace, The White Barn Inn’s sister property in Washington, Connecticut, and both are members of the prestigious hospitality association, Relais & Châteaux.

“The guest rooms at The White Barn Inn have undergone a true transformation,” said Pleasants. “In their new iteration, they feel modern yet serene, invoking a colour palette that pulls from the ocean and sand, using soft, soothing pastels along with punches of unexpected colour.”

The artwork adorning the new rooms instils a sense of place with subtle nautical references, which infuse the spaces with a light and airy ambiance. Updated bathrooms

received modernized upgrades with double walk-in showers and soaking tubs for two carved out of Carrera marble.

Also new to the property this fall are the additions of multiple outdoor spaces for guests to fully take advantage of the New England landscape. Two separate areas, the Landing and Starling Garden, centre around peaceful gardens, accessorized with vibrant local flowers and ample seating. The open green lawn serves as the ideal outdoor locale for intimate weddings and events.

Historically revered for its celebrated culinary program, The White Barn Inn has recently opened The Bistro Deck - its new outdoor dining venue which serves as a recalibration of the property’s food and beverage portfolio. The Bistro offers a less formal dining atmosphere and menu to complement the iconic prix-fixe experience offered at The White Barn Inn’s acclaimed eponymous restaurant.  The AAA Five Diamond and Forbes Five Star endorsed restaurant, which is celebrating its forty-third year, will continue to focus on showcasing the finest ingredients of the season, offering an exceptional four-course and gourmet tasting menu each week. Menu items have included Kennebunkport lobster nestled on homemade fettuccine; pan seared loin of veal with sweet and sour sweetbreads; and foie gras crusted tenderloin of beef, zucchini and garlic purée. Both restaurants are overseen by Chef Derek Bissonnette, who has been at the helm of The White Barn Inn’s culinary programming since summer 2015.

Further enhancing the guest experience, The White Barn Inn is launching a series of new wellness and culinary offerings for the fall season under its “Savor the Good Life” campaign. Guests are invited to savour the relaxing nature of the spa with an autumn seasonal body ritual influenced by the beauty of Maine using fresh, local ingredients, or enjoy the couple’s spa suite with complete privacy. Guests can also savour delicious sips and snacks with fun and unique culinary offerings such as crafting the perfect s’more by the poolside firepit Friday evenings using blueberry marshmallows created with freshly foraged Maine fruit, perfecting the recipe behind a dinner party cocktail with specialty mixology classes on Wednesday evenings, or indulging in a romantic dinner for two in the privacy of the guest room.
