Game of Thrones® Door No9
Ballygally Castle are proud to be home to the penultimate ‘Door of Thrones’, part of Tourism Irelands latest campaign. Tourism Ireland’s campaign features 10 intricately carved doors, illustrating moments inspired by this season. The doors have been unveiled each week as season six unfolds – referencing key scenes and events from the latest episode and incorporating some of the iconic symbols of the show. The doors will be carved from the trees blown down in Storm Gertrude at the Dark Hedges in Co Antrim – which serves as the backdrop for the Kingsroad, perhaps the most iconic Game of Thrones® location in Northern Ireland. The wood from the fallen trees has been salvaged and will be carved into legacy pieces marking each episode, demonstrating the connection between the show and Northern Ireland. Previous ‘Doors of Thrones’ have hung in pubs, restaurants and other venues across Northern Ireland, giving visitors a brand new Game of Thrones® Territory trail to follow.

Door 9 depicts the famous battle between House Stark and House Bolton in the penultimate episode of Season 6. Carved on this beautiful door, you will see the crests of House Bolton and House Stark, Ramsey Boltons hungry dogs and Winterfell Castle. This glorious door is the entrance to Ballygally Castle’s Garden Restaurant and sits amongst other Game of Thrones inspired memorabilia.

Situated minutes from the Dark Hedges filmed as the Kingsroad in Game of Thrones, Ballintoy Harbour, The Iron Islands and Cairncastle featured in Season 5 for scenes with Littlefinger and Sansa.

Ballygally Castle has created a unique offering for their guests that will truly excite Game of Thrones fans. Creating an unforgettable dining experience, enthusiasts can enjoy a delicious Westeros Toahawk Steak Dish served with an inspired Valyrian Steel Style Carving Knife. Valyrian Steel is a form of metal that was designed in the days of the mighty Freehold and is extraordinarily sharp and extremely strong. The 20oz salt aged steak has been specially prepared for the hotel by local butchers Carnbrooke Meats in Dromore and is served on a wooden platter with the Valyrian knife. In the award winning TV series, Valyrian steel is one of the few things that can kill White Walkers alongside dragonglass. And as a fan would know since the destruction of Valyria, the majority of the surviving Valyrian steel weapons serve as heirlooms in the various Houses and Great Houses of Westeros making this exceptional dinner one not to miss!

Northern Ireland is also home to Steensons jewellers, the official jewellery supplier to Game of Thrones®. Ballygally Castle is the only official supplier outside of the shop itself to sell their products. So if guests want to take a piece of Game of Thrones home with them this might be the best way. The hotel will also be offering medieval banquets for groups of 10-30 people booked in advance and can arrange Game of Thrones horse-riding and high end tours upon request.
