The red carpet was rolled out for over 250 guests, including consulate generals, dignitaries and partners of the hotel. Over 50 local, regional and international media were also onhand to participate in the celebration.
The theme of the event was “A Celebration of Chengdu’s Art and Culture,” which was
apparent throughout the event. Arriving guests were welcomed by the hotel’s management
team in the elegant glass-encased jewel box Tea Lounge. They were immediately escorted
through a tunnel surrounded by masses of vibrant flowers rich with floral scents.
Guests were then ushered into the foyer of the Niccolo Ballroom, where they were greeted by flutes of champagne and an eclectic selection of delicious canapés. A three-piece band provided soulful cabaret music while a famous local artist demonstrated his artistic skills by painting an incredible landscape in front of the guests.
As the doors to the Niccolo Ballroom opened, so began the main event. Mr. Adriano Vences, General Manager of the hotel, kicked off the six-course, wine-pairing dinner with a speech commemorating the first anniversary of the hotel. He was followed by Dr. Jennifer Cronin, President of Marco Polo Hotels, to celebrate the luxury brand, its success and the exciting new hotels opening soon in Chongqing, Changsha and Suzhou.
Several creative performances followed the speeches, starting with a riveting modern take on traditional opera. A traditional Sichuan dance and face-changing medley to contemporary music highlighted the local art that originated in the province over 300 years ago. These were just some of the visuals at the gala dinner that reflected the hotel’s theme of “New Encounters Timeless Pleasures.”
Adriano Vences, General Manager of the hotel was proud of this milestone and expressed his gratitude toward his colleagues: “This night is intended for all our guests, partners and our colleagues, those who in the past 12 months have made this hotel one of the city’s most desirable addresses.”
Niccolo Chengdu first opened its doors on April 15, 2015 and has been the hotel of choice for countless guests that include movie stars, performers, consulate generals and other VIPs.
