Superstars from Asia and around the world descend upon the integrated resort for China’s leading annual music eventSponsored by The Venetian® Macao, the 20th Channel [V] China Music Awards and Asian Influential Power Grand Ceremony returned to The Venetian Macao for the fifth consecutive year. After a glittering red carpet event at the main lobby, the awards presentation ceremony was held in the Cotai Arena on Friday night.
The Venetian Macao’s main lobby was the backdrop for hundreds of excited fans as they tried to get a glimpse of their favourite singers and actors walking the red carpet. An array of celebrities attended the event, including Twins, Raymond Lam, Jonathan Wong, Vincy Chan, PSY, VIXX, iKON, JJ Lin, Wang Lee Hom, Jam Hsiao, Kenji Wu, Hsu Hsi Ti, Lo Da Yu, Zhang Jie, Sun Nan, Wang Ta Lu, Bibi Chou, Momo Wu, Zhang Lei, Li Qi, Xue Zhi Qian, He Jie and Li Rong Hao, etc. Also in attendance were Dr. Wilfred Wong, president of Sands China Ltd. and representatives from Star China Media Ltd.
The theme for this year’s ceremony was “Initial Dream, Born for Music” and the event’s goal was to pay tribute to the singers who have contributed to the music industry over the past 20 years.
A total of 43 awards were presented at the star-studded ceremony, including Most Popular Male Singer (HK & Taiwan), Most Popular Female Singer (HK & Taiwan), Asian Most Popular Korean Artist, Most Popular Male Singer (Mainland China), Most Popular Female Singer (Mainland China), Best Cross Time Composing Singer and Asian Most Popular Versatile Chinese Artist among others.
The China Music Awards was originally launched back in 1994 and has gathered the nation’s top music industry talent in host cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Hong Kong, Macao and Taipei. It is the only Chinese music awards show that is telecast in China and around the world.
Since 2012, The Venetian Macao has co-organized the China Music Awards with Star Group Ltd. China. This latest sponsorship once again put Macao in the international spotlight, which is part of Sands China’s multi-tiered entertainment strategy of establishing Macao as Asia’s entertainment hub by bringing in world-class entertainment, sports, art and cultural events. The company’s 15,000-seat Cotai Arena has firmly established itself as the one of the top entertainment destinations in southern China. Besides hosting high-profile awards shows, the Cotai Arena has staged performances by some of the world’s and Asia’s biggest music superstars, including the Rolling Stones, Katy Perry, Bon Jovi, Big Bang, Eason Chan and the stars of the hit TV reality series “The Voice of China”.
