The London Marriott Hotel County Hall undergoes major redesign embracing its heritage with modern style

London Marriott Hotel County Hall bedroom
London’s historic and iconic London Marriott Hotel County Hall is undergoing a multi-million pound transformation for May 2016. Set at the foot of Westminster Bridge, the 200-room property is undergoing an extensive renovation to combine the very best in contemporary hotel design with the heritage and elegance of its premiere location in the heart of London. .

The building was first opened in 1922 as the headquarters of the local government in London before becoming a hotel in 1998.  Its vaulted ceilings and wood panelled chambers have witnessed many important moments of London history and its exceptional design means it now offers guests some of the most spacious rooms in the heart of London with incredible riverside views overlooking Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.   The stellar redesigned accommodation includes spectacular balcony suites with breath-taking views of Big Ben, Westminster Bridge, the River Thames and the London Eye seemingly just an arm’s reach away. All suites include generous bathrooms, lobbies with mosaic flooring and bespoke wallpaper featuring a historic map of London from the era of the building’s infancy.

A choice of King and Double beds, sumptuous soft furnishing and subtle plays on iconic London landmarks are featured throughout.  Design touches in each room include tasteful tributes to the building’s history and location – for example the orange chairs are a tribute to the orange red leather upholstered seating used in the former London council chamber and bowler hat prints on curtain fabrics echo London’s business culture. Each room is laid out in the finest detail to bring ease, luxurious functionality and comfort to every day needs  from the tiniest element such as the placement of the hairdryer, the correct angles for mirrors and of course intuitive technology throughout, without compromising on style.

The hotel’s experienced event team can accommodate any occasion, from a corporate dinner for 100 guests to a romantic candlelit dinner for two with immaculate service in stately surrounds. Each of the 13 impressive private dining and meeting rooms feature a wealth of beautiful period details, including rich oak panelling and marble fireplaces, backed up by all the latest technology.

A destination in itself, the hotel will offer an unparalleled hospitality experience with facilities that include a health club and spa, a 25-metre pool (the biggest hotel pool in London) and fine British dining at Gillray’s Steakhouse & Bar, the Leader’s Bar & Outside Terrace and iconic afternoon tea in the Library Lounge.

Rooms at the London Marriott Hotel County Hall start from £300 per room including breakfast.
