Insider look into InterContinental Fiji's 'Insider Collection'

Ground Breaking Ceremony at Malomalo Primary School
InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa and Malomalo Primary School of Natadola Bay recently broke ground at the local community school for the new building block for washrooms, school cafeteria and storerooms to cater for the increasing enrolment of students each year and for an improved conducive learning and healthy environment.

A recent project last February saw the ground breaking ceremony at the Malomalo Primary School, an initiative from a partnership with a past Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Events (MICE) group, the school, local community and the InterContinental Fiji as part of the Resorts ‘Insider Collection’ program. The partnership helps to develop the resources necessary for further education of the local community, therefore investing in the province that provides a significant number of team members at the luxury Resort.

Over the past years, InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa has contributed to the neighboring community of Natadola Bay through the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Events (MICE) ‘Insider Collection’ program, ensuring the community grows and benefits. As part of the IHG Brand Hallmarks, InterContinental Meetings allows groups to create truly memorable experiences that provide insider insights and authentic local knowledge in Fiji’s unique destination.

Through generous donations and participation in the InterContinental ‘Insider Collection’ programme, schools and the local Natadola community have previously benefited by projects that involved the complete repainting of Malomalo Primary School, provision of academic books, sports equipment and building of school desks and chairs and canteen for a number of schools in the area giving them access to resources necessary for a well rounded education and to encourage a healthy lifestyle for the next generation.

"From enhancing the learning environments in our local schools to preserving the health of our reefs and even participating in Fijian traditional dances, our 'Insider Collection' allows business delegates authentic memorable Fijian experiences with a real sense of community service," said David Pearson, Director MICE at the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa. “Hosting PCO’s and groups allow us to promote Fiji as a fantastic MICE destination and bring immeasurable potential for Fiji’s tourism industry and economy as a whole.”

More development projects are in the pipeline, all aimed at continuously developing education and supporting schools in the Natadola Bay area alongside the resort's Community Care Fund. InterContinental Fiji’s Community Care Fund is the Resort’s commitment to both the environment and the local community in which it operates. The Community Care fund finances numerous projects from donations from past guests. With the devastation to parts of the Fiji Islands from the recent natural disaster, Cyclone Winston, InterContinental Fiji is also working with the Fiji’s Prime Ministers Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Fund to fundraise funds to be contributed to the rebuilding of Fiji and getting the country back on track.
