Hotel Tannenhof pioneers new après-ski spa treatment: ‘The Raindrop Technique’

Hotel Tannenhof, the exclusive 5-star property in the heart of the Arlberg continues to raise the bar with its innovative approach to après-ski spa treatment. This exquisite private property is this year launching the ‘Raindrop Technique Treatment’, which detoxifies and re-energises the body after a hard day on the slopes or mountain hiking.

Raindrop Technique Treatment is a powerful massage method developed by Gary Young, who draws his wealth of experience from Lakota wellness traditions.  The treatment combines aromatherapy with a mixture of Swedish massage, an ancient Tibetan technique called Vitaflex, heat application and a Native American feather stroke, bringing balance and transformation by supporting the body on a physical and emotional level.

This deeply relaxing 90-minute treatment begins with the application of essential oils, which are dropped onto the body, thus giving the Raindrop Technique its name.  They are then massaged along the spine and back muscles - and applied to the feet - using the different massage techniques.  Finally a hot compress is applied to the body to further enhance the power of the essential oils.

The exact sequence of essential oils has been carefully chosen for their immune enhancing properties: to support the body's natural defences, as well as the circulatory, respiratory, endocrine, digestive and nervous systems. These oils - high in antioxidants - are both mood elevating and antiseptic, creating an unfavourable environment for harmful viruses and bacteria that can hibernate in the body. Essential oils are known to boost stamina and energy, encourage relaxation, help manage stress and promote overall health, vitality, and longevity.

With the ‘raindrops’ having done their work, guest can while away the hours in Hotel Tannenhof’s excellent spa, complete with steam room, indoor and outdoor sauna, plunge pool, 15-metre swimming pool (with massage jets and a counter current system to keep your heart rate up) and a whirlpool with the most magnificent mountain backdrop.
