5 star luxury London hotel launches initiative to encourage growth and development amongst staff proving Gold IIP accreditationSenior management team members of one of the capital’s leading luxury hotels, The Landmark London, are switching roles this December into positions that will take them “Back to the Floor”. In what will become a quarterly personnel development program, executive team members as well as the senior heads of department will receive training over one day in a department entirely different from their day-to-day role in order to fully understand and appreciate the various different hospitality and management responsibilities throughout the running of the hotel.
Those switching roles to work in uniform, side by side with front line hotel staff, include General Manager, Andrew Batchelor who will be training as a Pastry Chef, Director of Sales and Marketing, Sarah Baptiste, will take up a station in the Laundry department and Adi Schauer, Hotel Manager, will be a waiter in The Winter Garden restaurant.
The Back to the Floor development programme will take place quarterly ensuring the Senior Management Team experience all aspects of the differing roles within the hotel and is designed to encourage and develop staff at all levels. Management will look to commend each department in at least three areas where they are seen to be delivering exceptional guest service and hospitality as well as identifying at least three opportunities for improvement. All feedback will be shared and considered with the operational head of department to resolve the areas of improvement. The focus on teamwork and personnel development further showcases why the hotel was the only one in the UK to win the coveted Gold Level Investors in People Accreditation this year.
