On Friday November 20th, the resort welcomed six hand-picked PCO’s to the Fiji Islands to showcase Fiji’s finest five-star property on Natadalo Bay, experience the enriching culture of the Fiji Islands and the creative options available at InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa for groups looking to host a destination event.
The exciting itinerary for the PCO’s visit was built around the InterContinental Meetings Insider Collection to allow them to gain an insight into the best that InterContinental Fiji has to offer for a destination event. The PCOs were checked into the luxurious InterContinental Fiji’s Club InterContinental; poised high on a plateau overlooking Fiji’s best beach, offering the exclusivity of a resort within a resort with exclusive privileges and personalised service.
Getting into the swing of the activities, they explored Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course; home of the PGA sanctioned Fiji International, amidst break-taking views of the rolling hills and Pacific Ocean, showcasing another ideal venue for hosted groups. The group was educated by Chefs from the award winning signature restaurant Navo, on the art of making Fiji’s national dish kokoda (ceviche).
Themed dinners were accompanied by Pacific Island tribal drumming and island dancing for entertainment every night. However; the highlight of the event was the visit to the local Malomalo Primary School in the Natadola Bay community where PCOs participated in painting of the classrooms and upon completion were treated to a heart-warming performance from the students to show their appreciation.
“The InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa is an ideal destination for delegates; with our unbeatable location on one of the best beaches in the world, award-winning conferencing facilities, luxurious Spa InterContinental, championship golf course, and ‘In the Know’ cultural experiences,” said Mr. David Pearson, Director of MICE at InterContinental Fiji.
When asked to name the highlight of the famil, Pearson didn’t hesitate: “Showcasing Fiji’s enriching culture – particularly the closing night dinner around our dedicated Watercourt Meetings centre, which was complemented by a spectacular traditional fire show, and island dancing.”
Feedback from famil participants has been overwhelmingly positive; “Experiencing firsthand the warm, gentle nature of the Fijian people was incredible. Natadola Bay is an idyllic location and the InterContinental Fiji team is a credit to the industry; undoubtedly their strongest selling points,” participants commented.
“This PCO famil not only gave us a platform to showcase the extraordinary MICE experiences Natadola Bay has to offer, but most importantly it gave us the chance to promote Fiji as an authentic and enriching MICE destination,” stated Pearson. “Introducing PCO’s of this caliber to the Fiji Islands brings immeasurable potential for the Fiji’s tourism industry including ground operators, tour companies, and DMC’s.”
