Redefine BDL Hotels meets impeccable conferencing and events standards

Redefine|BDL Hotels, the UK’s largest independent hotel management company, has revealed meetings and events success across its portfolio for the year so far.
In the year to August 2015, the portfolio of 69 branded and private label properties saw an 11 per cent increase in meetings and event room hire as compared to the same period in 2014.

Stand-out successes for the group include Worcester Whitehouse, which saw meetings and event room hire quadruple for the first eight months of 2015 as compared to 2014. BEST WESTERN PLUS Epping Forest, Holiday Inn Express Earls Court and The Erskine Bridge Hotel and Spa saw business in the same area double.

Corporate meetings and other event bookings are benefitting from a range of initiatives introduced by Redefine|BDL Hotels, such as Crowne Plaza hotels within the portfolio becoming ‘Brain Friendly’, with meeting rooms kitted out according to a 22-point checklist.

This includes ionisers, ‘brain boosting’ snacks and calming furniture and décor – including plants that neutralise electromagnetic fields. Guests also have access to a ‘Stress Free Essentials’ box containing commonly forgotten items from portable phone chargers to emergency ties and tights.

Indeed, the business continues to enhance its meetings and events offering with a refreshed ‘Food for Thought’ menu being launched at Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza and DoubleTree by Hilton properties across the UK over the coming months.

The dedicated menus feature a range of fresh and healthy and nutritional foods packed with energy-boosting goodness to aid awareness and concentration for more productive meetings. Colourful superfood salads with a variety of veg, mixed grains and houmous are on the menu alongside heartier options like homemade lentil soup, sandwiches and stews with key ingredients such as sweet potato and kale.

Delegates can also enjoy pick-me-ups like muesli, flapjacks and fruit, as well as indulgent treats including American-style pancakes with maple syrup and Greek-style yoghurt, carrot cake and Eton mess, to keep them focused all day long.

And this commitment to meeting delegates’ needs hasn’t gone unrecognised, with half a dozen hotels receiving prestigious BDRC Continental Gold Accreditations thanks to their excellent VenueVerdict Scores for the third quarter of 2015.

Based entirely on genuine, verified customer feedback, the accreditation reflects the cream of the nation’s meetings providers.

Holiday Inn London Kensington Forum, Holiday Inn London Heathrow M4J4 and Holiday Inn London Bloomsbury, all similarly recognised by BDRC Continental earlier this year, have received the Accreditation alongside Holiday Inn Cambridge, Holiday Inn Oxford and Crowne Plaza London Heathrow – the only Crowne Plaza in the UK to receive the Accreditation.

John Stuart, Chief Operating Officer for Redefine|BDL Hotels, said: “We are delighted to see our hotels improving from one year to the next when it comes to meetings and events – and being recognised for their efforts with these prestigious accreditations.

“All properties operated by Redefine|BDL Hotels are aware of the importance of meetings and events – not only to the clients who book them, but to the success and growth of our own business.

“As such, each hotel has been committed to ensuring that meetings and events clients receive outstanding service and facilities. This commitment has obviously paid off, and we’re keen to continue to develop this throughout the portfolio. The various initiatives put in place are also bound to further improve that offering as we move forward into what is notoriously a busy period for events.

“This, along with our increase in meetings and events revenue, is testament to that hard work and we look forward to continuing to work with our clients to deliver fantastic results.”
