The Spa at InterContinental London – The O2, located on the ground floor of the 18-storey luxury hotel is in excess of 1000 sqm and features eight treatment rooms, a relaxation room, sauna, steam room and an impressive 17m indoor swimming pool with feature Jacuzzi, cannon neck massage jets and elegant pool-side loungers for pure relaxation.
With over 20 years’ experience building award-winning spas in five continents, and with a pioneering collection of natural spa products and treatments, ESPA stands at the forefront of today’s global spa industry as an authority on spa creation. Proud of their British heritage, and with offices across the world, they share their passion, vision and experience with only the finest hotels.
The Spa’s aesthetic, in keeping with the iconic style of the InterContinental brand, draws on the hotel’s location within historic Royal Greenwich and local influences of the East India Trading Company, with bespoke printed mosaic tiles, sumptuous rugs and delicate die-cut pendant lighting inspired by the area’s trading of porcelain and silks as far back as the 18th century. In addition, The Spa has been designed to include exotic textures and luxurious materials such as gold gilt and blue pearl granite as well as heavy timbers inspired by Greenwich’s historic naval ships and merchant dock yards.
Hasham Soliman, General Manager of InterContinental® London – The O2, comments, “We’ve taken great care with the design of The Spa to create a real oasis of calm that invites guests and members to sink into the depths of the space, like an underwater cavern. It was vital we provided a full range of relaxation and beauty therapies to complement the exotic and relaxing space, and ESPA’s world-class signature products, treatments and reputation secured them as the natural choice for us.”
Susan Harmsworth, ESPA's founder added: “We are delighted to have partnered with The Arora Group for the launch of The Spa at the new Intercontinental London – The O2. It is a magnificent space with a thoughtful design and, vitally, operated by a business with an ethos of quality and perfection that exactly mirrors ours, so it is an honour to be the official brand partner to the hotel.”
The Spa at the Intercontinental London – The O2 opens winter 2015 on the Greenwich Peninsula.
