Motel One 2015 half year financial results released

Sales up 29% and 5 new hotel openings: It has been a busy year so far for the leading budget design hotel chain.

Motel One’s half year financial results show no signs of the budget design hotel chain slowing down any time soon. With 5 new hotels (1,446 rooms) added to the portfolio in the first half of 2015 and sales up 29% reaching 147 million Euros, the chain is going from strength to strength with a strong presence in major UK and European cities.

With 50 hotels across the UK and Europe, Motel One has a room capacity of over 13,500; this is almost 2,000 ahead of last year. Vienna’s fourth hotel - Motel One Wien-Hauptbahnhof (533 rooms) was opened on the 27th May, quickly followed by their debut opening in Manchester with Motel One Manchester-Piccadilly (330 rooms) on 16th June. Both new openings are found in the hub of each city centre, for both business and pleasure the hotels offer outstanding style at great value.

Further 2015 half year highlights:
One Campus now open: Opened in April the One Campus comprises of Motel One München-City-Süd, Motel One Head Office and One University. Designed as a meeting place for inspiration and communication, the One Campus offers employees career development and training in one central location.

Two New Locations Secured: Concluding the first half of 2015 Motel One have secured two further sites for their own property portfolio; Lübeck (114 rooms) and Cologne (437 rooms).

Occupancy levels reach 72.9%: Steadily increasing their occupancy levels Motel One have increased on the previous year’s figure of 71.9%. Strong start up phases for new hotels helped occupancy levels through the first half of the year.

EBITDA up 22% reaching 43 million Euro: An increase of 7 million Euros on last year’s result. Operating profit after depreciation and interest went up 13% reaching 26 million Euros.

The pipeline for Motel One remains strong with 19 hotels (6,105 rooms), meaning the chain can grow to 69 hotels with 19,630 rooms. Q3 has already seen the opening of Motel One Amsterdam with 320 rooms, the first Motel One in the Netherlands can be found next to RAI Exhibition and Convention Centre.
