Andaz Liverpool Street announces a Murder Mystery Masquerade with East End Film Festival

This summer, Andaz Liverpool Street has collaborated with the 2015 East End Film Festival as the official Hotel Partner to celebrate the London’s East End cultural scene. The world renowned East End Film Festival is one of the largest film festivals in London, taking place from 1st – 12th July.

Guests will be wowed and challenged by an array of short films and special events in the very heart of the East End, including X Ray Audio by Stephen Coates, The Case of the Scorpion’s Tail by Sergio Martino and the crème-de-la-crème of the festival, the Murder Mystery Masquerade. Guests will feel on the edge of their seat as they are propelled into a night of suspense and magnificent performances.

Friday 3 July:
Time: 7.30pm at The Masonic Temple
Written by Stephen Coates, in X Ray Audio Cold War Russia, the recording industry is completely state controlled and music-mad boot-leggers risked imprisonment with an extraordinary means of reproduction. They cut forbidden jazz, rock ’n’ roll and banned Russian music onto used X-ray plates, creating ghostly records with images of the interiors of Soviet citizens. Tickets are £10.  

Saturday 4 July:
Session 1
Time: 1pm at The Masonic Temple
Electric sheep presents: The Dead Eyes of London + Talk
A 1961 film, directed by Alfred Vohrer, nothing is as it looks in this murder mystery lead by a mysterious reverend and no graduation will ever be the same with the Miskatonic Graduation, a ceremony for the graduates of Electric Sheep’s horror lecture series. Tickets are £10.  

Session 2  

Time: 4pm at The Masonic Temple
  Cigarette Burns presents: The Case of the Scorpion’s Tail (16MM) Directed by Sergio Martino, this 1971 film, in a deliciously macabre setting paired with a lustrous 16mm projection, makes this a rare opportunity to sample this devilishly entertaining 70s thriller as a millionaire dies in a mysterious freak accident leaving his widow set to enjoy the rich spoils. Tickets are £10 and can be bought here.  

Evening Session
Time: 8pm takes place at The Masonic Temple, Exchange, Bishopsgate & Chancery and the Gallery.  

Macabre Masonic Masquerade + screening of JUDEX
Andaz Liverpool Street celebrates the weird and wonderful of the festival with an invitation to a murder mystery masquerade ball. Directed by Georges Franju in 1963, the evening commences with a film showing in Andaz’s hidden away lair, the Masonic Temple. Guests will have a night of macabre ballroom play, immersive cinema and murder mystery masquerade, featuring a screening of Favraux’s thrilling pulp-hero remake of the 1916 French film serial of the same name - with a chance to dance alongside the revellers and performers at the end of the night! Tickets are £25.  

Deprogramme: A Mind Control Experiment:
Deprogramme will give guests an insight into the darker world of this society as they see the outer perimeters of cultism to the inner workings of governmental institutions bent on controlling their citizens. Deprogramme invites guests to test their own capacity for mind control. Across a whole day, EEFF will be communicating with guests through a series of screenings, talks and interactive indulgences. Guests will investigate the stories behind some of history’s most renowned sects, whether their leaders were eccentric megalomaniacs or at the centre of government control.
