Masters of wine select summer delights for Mercure Hotels’ Favours from the Cellar

What better way to celebrate the arrrival of the summer season than with a crisp glass of refreshing wine? With longer days and warming weather setting in, Mercure hotels is delighted to announce two new beautiful summer wines to add to their handpicked selection by Susie Barrie and Peter Richards.

Masters of Wine, Susie and Peter have carefully selected two wines - one white and one rosé – each exciting and unusual wines, to complement the existing selection of Mercure Hotels’ Flavours from the Cellar wine list. The two wines will be available throughout the summer period to add to the three core wines, which are affectionately termed “The Portuguese Special One”, “Italian Stallion” and “I want you”.

The first summer wine is a moreish white with intriguing roots, referred to as ‘the perfumed signorina'. A scented and refreshing white blend, A Mano Bianco 2014 is from Puglia, Italy and is made by a Californian who fell in love with an Italian.

The second is a rosé known as ‘the Édith Piaf of rosé wine’. La Vie en Rose 2013, is from the sunny south of France. Indulge in a glass and see the world through rose-tinted specs with this gorgeously soft and succulent dry rosé.

Flavours from the Cellar features a number of exciting wines from around the world chosen by Masters of Wine and TV personalities Susie Barrie and Peter Richards – the youngest married Masters of Wine (there are just over 300 in the world), both of whom have been wine presenters on BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen for nearly a decade.

The wines are available across 24 Mercure hotels in the UK and offer a new and exclusive selection of locally inspired, quality and affordable delights to enhance the brand’s offering. The ambassadors have chosen wines to suit the season, and provide an easy and affordable drinking experience to excite and inspire hotel guests. The wines emphasise the boldness of the new wine menu with a nod to classic flavours reinterpreted in a new style.

In addition to the wines selected by Susie and Peter, there is also a tailored and unique wine selection available on the menu across all Mercure hotels. These are individual to each hotel, as part of their locally inspired Flavours from the Cellar wine list.
