Jumeirah Emirates Towers was the first hotel in the Jumeirah Group to receive Green Globe Certification. Jumeirah Emirates Towers has been awarded the prestigious and environmentally recognized Green Globe Certification for the 4th consecutive year.

Green Globe Middle East Preferred Partner, Farnek Middle East LLC, has independently verified the sustainability achievements at Jumeirah Emirates Towers. In line with energy saving initiatives there has been a 1.63% reduction in electricity consumption achieved as compared to the same period in 2013 and 4.17% reduction for gas consumption. Currently approximately 80% of the hotel uses energy efficient lighting and is working towards 100% LED lighting in 2015.
In regards to water usage, there was a 12.2% saving on irrigation water in 2014 compared to 2013. The drip irrigation system uses grey water and operates during periods when water usage is best maximized and poses no inconvenience to guests (generally between 5pm and 10am). Several other water conservation initiatives are in operation at the hotel including a towel and linen reuse program. Green cards are placed in every guest room encouraging visitors to become involved in this eco-friendly initiative. Set targets were achieved with guests reusing towels and changing linen only 20% of the time in 2013 increasing to 40% in 2014. The hotel has also implemented checks on wastewater in accordance with the new requirements of V 1.7 criteria.
Jumeirah Emirates Towers focuses on sustainable outcomes with preference for eco-certified suppliers and biodegradable cleaning products and amenities. While the kitchens and restaurants contribute to the local economy by supporting sustainable fishing and purchasing regional produce, local lamb and Fair Trade coffee. Furthermore, to reduce wastage and costs whilst providing excellent service, the hotel serves half portion meals at 50% of the set price upon request by guests.
Colleagues and guests have been involved in various social and environmental projects as part of the hotel’s CSR objectives. Unused amenities, towels and linen are donated to Alihsan Charity Center and the Dubai Center for Special Needs on a monthly basis. In addition, a recent shopping event was organized for corporate clients where a local famer’s market supporting local producers and companies was set up in a vacant shop space.
Community development initiatives include working with Expo 2020 and the Dubai Women’s club. Also, last year during the renovation of the lobby area, a painting was displayed and tickets sold to guests raising approximately AED 8000. Proceeds were donated to the Dubai School for Special Needs.
Jumeirah Emirates Towers staff are actively involved in the Clean Up Arabia campaign.
