Celebrate the Rose Harvest in Oman at The Chedi Muscat

This year, guests at The Chedi Muscat are able to celebrate the rose harvest in Oman with a range of rose inspired indulgences and experiences. From the end of March until mid May each year, the rugged, rocky mountain landscape of Jebel Akhdar, Oman is transformed, glowing a spectacular shade of pink that can be seen from miles around, during the rose season.

Throughout the entire rose season, guests can treat themselves at the 800 square metre Spa at The Chedi Muscat, whilst benefiting from the medicinal properties of the locally produced rose water. Guests can choose from organic rose geranium or damascene rose otto with jasmine and organic rosehip seed oil for the special ila Himalayan Crystal Body Polish treatment, designed to stimulate the lymphatic system, aid circulation, refine the texture of the skin and uplift and soothe tired limbs. Alternatively, a traditional full body Moroccan Rhassoul Envelopment treatment promises velvety skin in just 120 blissful minutes.

This ritual incorporates a foot polish and full body mask of purifying Moroccan rhassoul mud mixed with organic rose water. While enveloped by the body masque, guests enjoy a henna and organic rose water hair mask, organic facial cleanse and finish with a facial and body massage. For couples, The Chedi Love Bath Ceremony promises to blow a loved one away with a special ‘Love Potion’, Champagne, Canapes and Omani rose petals, of course.

The unique sensory rose experience continues at a number of the hotel’s exquisite bars and restaurants. The expert The Chedi Muscat mixologist has created the delicious ‘Rose Blush’ cocktail, featuring rose syrup, cranberry juice, peach purée, lime juice and vodka. Additionally, an especially created ‘Jabal Akhdar Rose & Vanilla Macaroon’ will be served throughout April as The Chedi Muscat’s signature ‘Macaroon of the Month’. Those with a sweet tooth will also enjoy the exclusive ‘Rose Delight’ dessert served in The Restaurant throughout the bloom, incorporating rose biscuit, honey mousse, hazelnut crumble, rose ganache and candied rose.

The Chedi Muscat are also offering guests the chance to get up close and personal with the blooming roses of Jebel Akhdar. On The Rose Tour, guests will be driven through the Al Hajar Mountain via Fanja, where they can visit the charming village of Birkat al Mauz, and the 17th century old capital, built around Tower Fort where they can visit the traditional souk, picking up hand carved Khanjars and silver jewellery. The scenic drive continues up to the peak of the ‘Green Mountain’ (Jebel Akhdar), where the famous roses are viewed in full bloom, in their millions, cascading all the way down the side of the mountain – a truly spectacular sight. The experience is concluded with a visit to the rose plantation and traditional rose water factory, where visitors can observe and even partake in the ancient essence making techniques, that are all still used today to ensure top quality and authenticity.

The Rose Tour can be booked through The Chedi Muscat concierge. Rates start from 70 OMR(approx. £118) per person for a group of four people.
