Skiathos Princess Hotel to pioneer Greece’s Inaugural YOGAfest, a YOGAqua Retreat

Following the hugely successful introduction of YOGAqua at The Skiathos Princess Hotel in 2012, Katerina Santikou, Business Development Director, Santikos Collection will pioneer Greece’s first Yoga Festival, ‘YOGAfest, a YOGqua Retreat’, led by YOGAqua’s creator, trainer to the stars and ambassador of yoga inspired athletic apparel company Lululemon, Sarah Tiefenthaler, from 1st – 8th May 2015.

The highly anticipated festival will be the perfect trip to relax and re-energize and will offer guests daily expert yoga instruction and three days of paddleboard yoga, fresh and locally sourced Greek cuisine, daily beach visits, boat tours around the island, live music entertainment, a moonlight paddle excursion to co-inside with the first full moon of the season on 4th May and plenty of other activities. Extras such as wine tasting, horse-riding, parasailing, snorkelling and jet skiing will also be available to guests.

YOGAqua is a natural extension of the timeless practice of yoga, fused with the exciting art of Stand-Up Paddle Boarding (SUP), which will take place on the glistening, warm waters of Skiathos. Offered exclusively to guests staying at the property, YOGAqua has proven hugely popular for its refreshing, exhilarating and toning effects. With yoga taking place on paddle boards on the water (a moving surface), guests perform poses and engage muscles they wouldn’t normally use.

Sarah Tiefenthaler, a trained yoga instructor and founder of YOGAqua came up with the idea after being invited to try SUP for the first time following extensive yoga teacher training in Costa Rica. It wasn’t long before Sarah began to experiment with yoga poses on boards and spent weeks trialling different poses, revising them until she developed a sequence that really worked. One that any level of yoga practitioner would enjoy and be challenged by at the same time...YOGAqua was born! “I’m delighted with how popular YOGAqua has become at Skiathos Princess Hotel and to be involved with launching Greece’s first YOGAfest is a dream come true. The location of Skiathos Princess is exceptional and I admire their ethos of embracing health and wellness in a luxurious and relaxing setting. I guarantee YOGAfest will leave guests feeling refreshed and inspired!” said Sarah Tiefenthaler, founder of YOGAqua.

The Skiathos Princess Hotel is the island’s leading resort offering a superb selection of wellness and fitness programmes. The property has a distinct focus on healthy living and offers a range of Spa Rituals, Herb Hikes and of course YOGAqua classes. The range of restaurants offer fresh and locally sourced Greek cuisine, including smoothies, juices and Mediterranean classics with a healthy twist.
