Barcelona bookings skyrocket for Mobile World Congress

A new edition of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) starts strong a month and a half before the opening. The impact of the major event in Barcelona can be seen with the apartment bookings. According to the vacation rental website Migoa.com, 95% of its apartments and holiday houses are booked for the event.

The portal has detected a significant price increase due to the high demand, which has gone up to 100% in recent days and is expected to grow even more as the congress dates approaches. This tradeshow and conference takes place each year in Barcelona and the upcoming edition will run from the 2nd to the 5th of March 2015. This year it will celebrate its 10th anniversary in Barcelona.

The 2015 edition is expected to attract more than 86,000 attendees and 1,900 exhibitors. Accommodation for this high level event is one of the economic benefits for the Catalan capital. According to Migoa.com, 90% of the entire occupancy in hotels and holiday rentals in Barcelona are dedicated to the event.

Bookings for the event are done for an average stay of 4 nights and for accommodations located closer to the event, districts like Sants, Parallel or l'Eixample, even though a special interest in the beach areas of the city remain. Even though most participants leave the city at the end of the congress, more and more choose to stay longer until the weekend to discover better the city and its region.
