The Group will donate hotel stays to help families with hospitalised children spend Christmas togetherTo mark the start of the festive season, NH Hotel Group has unveiled its charitable Christmas campaign, Hotels with a Heart, to help spread a little joy and give to those less fortunate at this special time of year. The initiative is designed to fulfil the wishes of many sick children and teenagers who are in hospital all over the world and want to spend the Christmas period with their families.
Working in close collaboration with local foundations and non-government organisations (NGOs), the Company will provide free accommodation at NH hotels located close to hospitals in order to help families with limited resources to stay close to their loved ones between 22nd December 2014 and 11th January 2015. In the UK the partner will be the Ronald McDonald Foundation.
The Hotels with a Heart campaign will be carried out in 30 cities across 10 countries in Europe and the Americas – Germany, Argentina, Belgium, United States, Spain, France, The Netherlands, Italy, Mexico and United Kingdom. It will involve 57 hotels and 53 NH Ambassadors, as well as the collaboration of 11 foundations and NGOs to help facilitate this charitable initiative. They will be in charge of identifying the neediest families in each destination.
In addition to donating overnight stays at hotels in several cities worldwide, NH Hotel Group is encouraging its employees to get involved in this initiative. Every participating hotel will have an employee volunteer to mentor the families, share their experiences and make sure their stay is as comfortable as possible so that the hotel becomes their second home while they keep their loved ones company.
Under the Hotels with a Heart programme, NH Hotel Group has supported families with seriously sick children for 10 years, working closely with important charities and non-government organisations like Make A Wish International, Ronald McDonald Foundation, Fundación Menudos Corazones, and Josep Carreras Foundation, among others.
The overriding goal of NH Hotel Group’s CSR strategy is to contribute to the development of the local communities in which it is present by encouraging its employees to voluntarily participate in the various projects it carries out, as well as collaborating with multiple charities in each of its business markets through special rates for accommodation, training and employment activities etc.
According to Marta Martín, NH Hotel Group’s Director of Corporate Responsibility, “This charitable initiative falls under the umbrella of the long-running Hotels with a Heart programme, which exemplifies NH Hotel Group’s long-term strategic commitment to society and takes the form of multiple collaborations throughout the year with which the Company tries to meet the accommodation needs of numerous charities,”. She goes on to add that “this Christmas we hope our hotels will once again become a second home for these families so that, as well as being able to stay close to their children while they are in hospital, they will not feel alone at this important time of year”.
