ME London hotel launches #LightMEup Christmas installation

ME London #LightMEup Christmas installation
ME London, the Foster + Partner designed luxury hotel on the Strand, has launched a Christmas installation like no other. Throughout December an awe-inspiring, social media controlled light show will dance across the walls of the hotel’s pyramid shaped reception, The Atrium.

The #LightMEup installation, designed by Blow Factory, will project wintery light shows onto the nine-storey high white marble walls. As users tweet and Instagram with the #LightMEup hashtag their posts will become part of the display in the form of falling snowflakes.

The Atrium is a minimalistic but remarkable space housed within a pyramidal structure at the core of the building. Clad entirely in white marble its impressive light shows bring the room to life. It showcases permanent mapping installations throughout the year, examples of which can be seen here. #LightMEUp will be the first time the hotel has incorporated social media into its design.

Tony Cortizas, Vice President of Global Brand Strategy for Meliá Hotels International commented: ‘ME London is one of the leading design hotels in the UK. We felt the Christmas tree was too traditional for our hotel, it has been done to a spectacularly high standard across London hotels for years; guests today are looking for something more from their hotels - something with a ‘wow’ factor. The #LightMEUp installation will set the precedent for future Christmases across London hotels – it really is stunning.’

#LightMEup @MELondonhotel will run daily, after dark, from December 2nd – December 31st.
