New owner Ampthill Investments Ltd set to invest significantly in upgradesOne of the UK’s most successful hotel management companies, Focus Hotels, has announced that it has taken over the management of the four-star Mercure Shrewsbury Albrighton Hall Hotel & Spa. Appointed on a long term management contract, with effect from 20 November 2014, Focus Hotels will oversee a period of substantial long term investment on behalf of the hotel’s new owner, Ampthill Investments - a new investment vehicle owned by Focus Hotels’ chief executive Peter Cashman and his family and associates.
Ampthill Investments plans to invest significantly to develop the property, which will continue to operate as part of the Mercure brand under the new management and owners.
Cashman commented, “We are delighted to be taking over the ownership and management of the Mercure Shrewsbury Albrighton Hall Hotel & Spa, a beautiful and historic property which we believe has fantastic potential. We are very excited about our development plans, and have funds already in place to make them a reality – and with the benefit of Focus Hotels’ management expertise, I and my fellow investors have complete confidence in the success of this project.” Plans are being put in place to carry out substantial upgrades to the hotel’s bedrooms, entrance and in particular to enhance and develop the already popular spa and wedding and conference facilities.
Just three miles from Shrewsbury town centre, the Mercure Shrewsbury Albrighton Hall Hotel & Spa is an 18th century former manor house, set in 15 acres of landscaped grounds and overlooking an ornamental lake.
