andel’s Hotel Lodz celebrates 5 years of success

The 4-star andel’s Hotel Lodz is celebrating 5 years of success at the beginning of September. More than 350.000 bed nights, 4.125 conferences and events and more than 30 awards are only some of the highlights since it opened in 2009. The 4-star hotel has successfully positioned itself on the Polish market and is looking forward to a successful future.

The andel's Hotel Lodz was celebrating its 5th anniversary together with 600 friends of the hotel, partners and international media this September. In 2009 Warimpex Finanz- und Beteiligungs AG and Vienna International Hotelmanagement AG (VI) opened together the first 4-star hotel in Lodz, which has given the city a new design and face ever since. After decades of standing empty, the former weaving mill, established in 1878 by textile magnate Izrael Poznanski, has been transformed into a shining example of how historic industrial architecture can blend with modern design.

”Without question, the andel’s Lodz is one of the most brilliant hotel developments in Warimpex’ history. After all the efforts of developing a new spirit while preserving the building’s original character it fills me with pride to see how this award winning project is so well received by its guests and also the people of Lodz”, said Franz Jurkowitsch, CEO of Warimpex, owner and developer of the hotel. Warimpex had renovated the red-brick building within two-and-a-half years, challenging the technical and creative skill of its employees, architects and construction workers like never before.

Since its opening, Anna Olszynska is General Manager of the andels and proud that around 200,000 people from all over the world have stayed at the multi-awarded design hotel: “It is a special honour for us that we had the chance to host also international stars and celebrities, such as Depeche Mode, Sting, Shakira, Rhianna, Justin Bieber and Plácido Domingo. The hotel shines with its diverse event setting and stage design and has therefore hosted more than 4.125 events and conferences – including the Poland Fashion Week.” The scenery can be changed from a classical meeting set-up into extraordinary settings, such as an ice cage, a Brazilian samba club, catwalks or a big concert hall for up to 1,000 people.

In the last five years the venue has won more than 30 international and national awards for its unique architecture and design as well as its outstanding service. The andel’s Hotel has won the „Traveller’s Choice Award” from TripAdvisor for the last three years. The andel’s Hotel Lodz has been certified as „Poland’s Best Hotel” as well as received the prestigious Hermes Statute for the best restaurant as well as many other awards. Rupert Simoner, new CEO of VI hotel group which manages as subbrand four andel’s Hotels is convinced: „Our target is to strengthen the brand in order to attract more people from all over the world and to convince them with the uniqueness of our hotels“.

The 4-star hotel is ideally located in the central part of Poland, in the heart of Europe, with more than a million people living in Lodz agglomeration. The destination counts as one of the most important locations for Meetings and Conference (MICE) and it also strengthenss constantly its position for leisure tourism in Poland. The design hotel is cooperating closely with the city of Lodz and has been established as an attraction with a great future outlook. Modern art exhibitions like the ANDEL’S QUARTER cycle, or ANDEL’S PHOTO, which show the creative work of young artists, are regularly shown at the design hotel. Furthermore, the andel’s Hotel Lodz is more than just a place to stay and follows the philosophy of being a hotel with a soul and a unique atmosphere.

The andel’s Hotel Lodz is one of Poland’s most modern city and business hotels. Housed in the building of a former weaving mill it features 278 rooms and suites and seven flexible conference rooms on a total space of 3,100 m².The biggest ballroom in Lodz is on the roof of the hotel with 1,300 m² and thanks to a cargo lift, large items such as pianos or even automobiles can be transported up to the event area. Fantastic views of the city are available from the glass-enclosed pool on the top of the hotel as well as from the 1.000 m² fitness and health club. The pool itself is a relic of the past, which was created out of a 19th century fire water storage tank.

Guests can enjoy special culinary creations, composed by Chef Mirosław Jabłoński, at the hotel Restaurant Delight. Small dishes and exquisite drinks or a cup of coffee are served at the Oscar’s Bar.

The interior design of andel’s Hotel Lodz is the work of the London-based star designers Jestico + Whiles, who have succeeded in creating a highly atmospheric experience while maintaining the industrial character of the historic walls. The old pillars and beams were preserved and the 100-year-old stairs and cast-iron gate were restored to their original splendour. The blend of elements from the past and the present creates a harmonious dialogue between the historical aura of a cultural monument and the language of contemporary architecture.
