Welcoming the guests in the room is the natural scent of Jurlique aromatherapy essential oil. Each green room is also made greener and healthier with leafy houseplant embellishing the interior while handpicked organic teabags are replenished daily to ensure guests a refreshing start of the day. Guests can also choose from more than 11 types of pillows featuring natural buckwheat, wheat fiber, lavender scented, to name a few, to enjoy a good night’s sleep. More so, a complimentary Water Bar featuring four types of bottled water, including Fiji natural artesian bottled water, is provided in each green room, making sure the guests stay hydrated with quality water all day long.

Being a certified green hotel, the hotel is using energy efficient LEDs in the entire hotel property and carbon filter for the fan coil units to improve indoor air quality, while reducing the footprint of the ventilation system. “By Joining EarthCheck, we are able to accurately measure the effectiveness of each of our environmental and corporate social responsibility practice through science-based software, and enable us to contrive targeted strategies to minimise carbon footprint while maximise guest experiences more innovatively. Hence, the introduction of Green Floor.” said Ms. Anita Chan, the General Manager of Cosmo Hotel Hong Kong.

Cosmo Hotel has successfully attached EarthCheck Bronze Benchmarked 2014 recently and is working towards attaining Silver status in the following year.

While enjoying the comfort of a green stay, guests are also encouraged to reuse towel and bed linen, converse energy and water consumption whenever possible during their stay. To minimise carbon emission, the hotel has also provided free shuttle bus operating on daily basis taking guests toward 15 destinations.

“Our green measures will not be as successful without the cooperation from our guests. The introduction of green floor is really a win-win-win approach for the guest, environment and hotel staff. Our guests get to enjoy a superior quality accommodation; the reduced carbon footprint means a cleaner environment while the hotel staff gets to work more efficiently in a smoke-free and refreshing environment, ” said Ms. Anita Chan.

“If the feedback from our guests is encouraging, we will definitely consider converting more guest floors into green floors to benefit more like-minded guests, even though that would incur higher maintenance cost for the hotel. Our aim is to continuously inspire one and another to love our globe and to collectively contribute to the environment and local community for the sake of a better tomorrow,” Ms. Chan continued.
