Newly renovated Gateway Hotel in Hong Kong exceeds expectations

It has only been a few months since Marco Polo’s Gateway Hotel in Harbour City had a complete makeover, but the quality and style of the property since its award-winning renovation has quickly been turning heads and surprising both return as well as new guests.

All 400 guestrooms and suites underwent the redesign, which won a Global Excellence award for Best Hotel by The International Interior Design Association in December 2012.  The celebrated renovation also included the hotel’s Continental Club Lounge and lobby, as well as the Three on Canton restaurant and al fresco dining area, Be on Canton.  Fritz Sommerau, General Manger of Gateway Hotel explains the property has undergone a transformation to a contemporary and innovative yet elegant hotel that targets both international and regional guests.

“Gateway Hotel introduced a brand new 360-degree redesigned property that showcases a totally innovative design concept. We redesigned our lobby, transit lobby and we introduced Three on Canton, the ultimate gourmet destination that is an impressive space of 20,000 square feet to dine, wine, lounge and network on the third floor. Its layout comprises a hip restaurant with action cooking stations and a stylish al fresco dining terrace,” said Fritz.

“In addition, each of the newly renovated rooms and suites features flat screen televisions and the popular Nespresso coffee machine with a complimentary selection of flavours. All suites offer a soothing rain shower and bathtub built in the newly designed marble bathrooms.”

Wi-Fi is complimentary throughout the entire hotel. Each room is also wired as a virtual office, equipped with multiple power points by the desk and bed.

The property is centrally located on Canton Road and complements the Marco Polo sister hotels, Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel and Prince Hotel, also conveniently located within Harbour City.  The major transport hub of the China Ferry Terminal, Star Ferry and the MTR station are all within walking distance and the Airport Express at Kowloon Station is just moments away. Add to your walking tour the promenade of Victoria Harbour, Kowloon Park, the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the Hong Kong Space Museum and the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.  There is also world-class shopping and dining at the nearby Harbour City, Hong Kong’s largest shopping complex with more than 450 shops featuring the world’s leading luxury brands.
