Within this package the hotel will provide a return taxi ride to Glenarm Forest where guests can follow a hiking path and enjoy incredible wildlife, flora and fauna along with a luxury picnic hamper to make the day that little bit more exciting before returning to the property for a blissful night’s sleep.

Ballygally Castle Picnic Package
Guests will be whisked from the grounds of Ballygally Castle to Glenarm Forest, probably one of the least known of the nine glens of Antrim. The forest is small but tree species such as oak, ash, beech, sycamore, Japanese larch, Sitka spruce are plentiful and many others compete for survival and the forest floor is carpeted with plants such as bluebells, primroses, dog's mercury and ground ivy.

The numerous feeder streams which run down the side of the glen to join the Glenarm river form ribbons of natural vegetation through the manmade forest. The Lead, which was built early in the 19th century to bring water from the top of the glen to the 'whitening mill' beside Glenarm harbour, now forms a part of Glenarm's industrial archaeology.

The Glenarm River runs on a straight course down the centre of the glen to join the sea at Glenarm village. It is normally well stocked with Brown Trout, Sea Trout, Salmon and Eels; and along its banks Mallard, Heron, Dipper, Kingfishers and the odd otter can be seen.

There will be plenty of idyllic spots to sit and devour the picnic hamper that will be fully stocked with freshly prepared treats using local produce including sandwiches, tray bakes, soft drinks (guests can also include champagne for an extra £16) and healthy fruit snacks. When ready to leave the spectacular wooded paradise a taxi will take guests back to the hotel where the hotel’s lounge & bar provides a perfect place to relax. Later on sink into one of Hastings Hotels ultra-comfy cloud beds before waking to enjoy a traditional full Irish breakfast.

Hastings Hotels offer the overnight picnic package from £140pp based on 2 people sharing a Superior Double Room on a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast basis. Price includes return taxi ride to Glenarm Forest or bicycle hire, picnic hamper for two people as well as exclusive Giants Causeway duck and complimentary on-site parking (upgrades also available).
