W London – Leicester Square unveils The Spencer Hart Suite for London Collections: Men

The Spencer Hart Suite
W London – Leicester Square and menswear brand Spencer Hart are set to open the city’s most stylish suite to celebrate London Collections: Men – The Spencer Hart Suite.
These two names in London luxury, which share a bold, British design philosophy, are collaborating on the creation of a unique suite for the capital’s three-day menswear fashion event. The Spencer Hart Suite will provide a stylish experience high above the madness of London Collections: Men, offering guests personal styling and shopping sessions with Nick Hart and the Spencer Hart team.

Situated high up on the hotel’s seventh floor with a bird’s eye view of Leicester Square, The Spencer Hart Suite will be open from 16 – 17 June 2014. The suite will reveal Spencer Hart’s SS15 Palm Springs collection and two new footwear ranges. This brand new collection will be complemented by the backdrop of the luxurious surroundings of the hotel’s EWOW Suite in a London Collections: Men first.

To accompany their exclusive styling and shopping experience, visitors will be served bespoke Palm Springs-inspired cocktails, created by W London’s team of mixologists. Spencer Hart’s brand new collection is inspired by the desert city of Palm Springs in the 1950’s and 60’s – it embraces a true Palm Springs resort lifestyle, centred around the tennis clubs, infinite green golf courses, poolside glamour and the early evening cocktail hour. The collection encapsulates the attitude and style of the Hollywood icons that visited at this time to live the good life by their own rules - Frank Sinatra, Charlie Farrell, Tony Curtis and Jack Nicholson.

Nick Hart and his team have created a modern adaptation of this time and its Ratpack cast, using modern shapes and fabrics and taking inspiration from a cast of current day muses including Dan Stevens and Benedict Cumberbatch. An additional playful goofiness permeates the collection, inspired by the subversion of classical fashion by non-conformist musicians - OutKast circa 2003, with the release of Hey Ya! or more recently Alex Turner’s combination of kimonos with a pure 1950’s American-greaser meets British-teddy-boy style.

The fabrics and shapes are crisp, sharp and tailored, yet flowing and casual - transitional 24-hour pieces that are just as suitable on sun-drenched fairways as they are by the poolside or at cocktail hour. Cotton is the predominate material used throughout, alongside Japanese style prints and colours. These are woven into the collection to provide punchy colour details to polo shirts, footwear and knitwear. Golf has a central place in the collection, with the principle look being loose pleated shorts teamed with Spencer Hart golf shoes or vibrantly coloured plimsoles, a fitted print shirt or polo.

Nick Hart, Creative Director of Spencer Hart, said of the collaboration: “The SS15 Spencer Hart Palm Springs collection is wholly inspired by the Californian desert resort city in its heyday. There is a very clear connection between Palm Springs and Savile Row and that’s a meticulous attention to detail in the quest to create something of clean, bright beauty.. It feels very fitting to be unveiling this collection at W London – Leicester Square during London Collections: Men. For me, The Spencer Hart Suite will represent a little corner of Palm Springs in London – hidden, exclusive and utterly glamorous.”

Coen Van Niersen, General Manager of W London – Leicester Square, added: “W London is dedicated to bringing what’s new and next in the world of fashion to its guests and has been a passionate supporter of emerging and established British fashion talent since the hotel opened so we are thrilled to be collaborating with Spencer Hart to bring this unique London Collections: Men experience to the hotel.”

Each year, London Collections: Men emphasises the creative and commercial importance of British menswear brands and emerging talent as well as the rich cultural landscape that contributes to the inspiration and success of this sector. A calendar of events across the three days showcase the breadth of British fashion talent, from the world’s most innovative emerging talents to global menswear brands and Savile Row tailors.
